Anchorhead was one of the first settlements on Tatooine. Abandoned and resettled many times, it lost significance until it was only a minor outpost for several nearby moisture farms where youths such as Luke Skywalker and his friends spent much of their free time. The Jawas often refer to Anchorhead as "Old City New". Anchorhead is part of the Great Chott Salt Flat region. Anchorhead Base, Anchorhead Cantina, Sidi Driss Inn
The Jundland Wastes are a dry, hot, and rocky region that is located on the desert world of Tatooine. This remote area largely consists of a number of canyons that wound their way around a number of large mesas and was situated near the Dune Sea. The nomadic Tusken Raiders and the Jundland Waste Womp Rat inhabit the area and in the native parlance, "Jundland" meant "No Man's Land". Several layers of rocks within the Wastes are tilted indicating graben formations. They also contain magnetic deposits which obscure sensors. It would become somewhat famous as the place where Anakin Skywalker slaughtered an entire tribe of Sand People, and decades later the place where Luke Skywalker would first meet Obi-Wan Kenobi after being attacked by Tusken Raiders.
The Dune Sea is a vast, sandy desert that stretches across the surface of Tatooine. In the Tatooine navigation system, it is located in the planet's first quadrant. People who step foot into the Dune Sea are often never seen again.
